“Single-spin magnetic resonance using microwave photon counting” (Prof. Patrice Bertet)

Electron Spin Resonance (ESR) spectroscopy characterizes paramagnetic impurities in a sample for chemistry, biology, and material sciences. We have developed a novel ESR detection method that reaches single spin sensitivity, using a microwave photon counter based on a superconducting qubit at millikelvin temperatures.
