Quasifree quantum operations are the abstract version of linear quantum optics with additive, but not necessarily Gaussian noise. Like Gaussian operations they can be analysed almost completely by classical phase space considerations. This also works for quantum-classical hybrids, providing prototypes of all uncertainty and disturbance tradeoffs in various measurement and control scenarios.

The dilation theorem for these operations provides a unique splitting of every operation into a coupling with a noisy hybrid system, followed by a noiseless operation. Dynamical semigroups in this class have Levy-Khintchine type generators, in which only the Gaussian noise, but not the jumps are constrained by quantum uncertainty.

The emphasis of the talk is to provide a simple general calculus with examples. In passing, this calculus also solves some of the hard functional analytic problems arising in hybrid systems.
