Abstract:

The Su-Schrieffer-Heeger (SSH) Hamiltonian is perhaps the most basic model encompassing the key concepts of a topological insulator. I will give a basic introduction to the (dimer) model and its bulk-edge correspondence, i.e., the link between a winding number and the presence/absence of edge states. I will then present our recent results towards a generalized bulk-edge correspondence for the trimer SSH.
