In recent years, the out-of-time-order correlator (OTOC) has emerged as a diagnostic tool for information scrambling in quantum many-body systems. Here, we present exact analytical results for the OTOC for a typical pair of random local operators supported over two regions of a bipartition. more

Solving optimization problems encoded in the ground state of classical-spin systems is a focus area for quantum computing devices, providing upper bounds to the unknown solution. To certify these bounds, they are compared to those obtained by classical methods. more

In his thesis, Henrik improved a method (Tensor Networks) used to simulate Quantum Many-Body Systems. These systems are classified as either “gapped” or “gapless”. While Tensor Networks work great for most gapped systems, he showed under which circumstances they can be used to describe “gapless” systems. more

It is the second time a junior researcher in Ignacio Cirac’s theory group at MPQ is honored with the "NJP Early Career Award".
Martí Perarnau Llobet, former postdoctoral researcher in the theory group at the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics has won the "NJP Early Career Award". more
