European Collaborative Research

The EU is supporting international cooperation projects in different thematic areas and in so-called "bottom-up" programmes which are open to all research fields to foster progress in science and innovation. The MPQ is project partner in numerous project consortia. The latest EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation is Horizon Europe. It is the successor programme to Horizon 2020 and thus the 9th EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. The central goal of Horizon Europe is to promote excellence in European science.

Examples of Horizon Europe projects at MPQ:

MUQUABIS - Multiscale quantum bio-imaging and spectroscopy
The central goal of MUQUABIS is to develop synergetic tools of quantum-bio-sensing and bio-imaging, based on new concepts for quantum frequency combs and infrared lasers, and diamond-based magnetic microscopy. more
PASQUANS 2.1 - Programmable Atomic Large-scale Quantum Simulation 2
Coordinated by Immanuel Bloch (MPQ), PASQuanS2 aims to develop next-generation programmable, large-scale atomic quantum simulators operating with up to 10,000 atoms... more
Quantum Internet Alliance - QIA-Phase1

Quantum Internet Alliance - QIA-Phase1

QIA advances its mission: developing a full stack prototype network to distribute entanglement between two metropolitan-scale networks using quantum repeaters, and establishing a European platform for Quantum Internet development, able to catalyse a European Quantum Internet Ecosystem.

Examples of Horizon 2020 projects at MPQ:

PASQuanS - Programmable Atomic Large-Scale Quantum Simulation 1
PASQuanS aims to further develop quantum simulation platforms based on ultracold atoms and ions. The first stage of the PASQuanS project successfully created one the most advanced quantum simulation platform so far. more
QIA - Quantum Internet Alliance
The long term mission of the Quantum Internet Alliance (QIA) is to build a global Quantum Internet made in Europe that enables quantum communication applications between any two points on Earth. First prototypes have succesfully been realised. more
Laserlab Europe - The Integrated Initiative of European Laser Research
Laserlab-Europe, the Integrated Initiative of European Laser Research Infrastructures, understands itself as the central place in Europe where new developments in laser research take place in a flexible and co-ordinated fashion beyond the potential of a national scale. more
