Abstract:

Since Google claimed to have achieved Quantum Supremacy in 2019, the next step is to put it to use to solve an interesting physical problem. Following a paper by Sirui Lu et al., we propose that finding many-body expectation values of observables at finite energies, could be an option. In this talk I will explain the quantum algorithm described in that paper. I will also present a classical method to simulate the algorithm’s results for a 2D XY-model. And finally, I will discuss the main issues that arise when thinking about implementing it on Google’s quantum computer.
