Abstract:

Rydberg atom arrays have recently emerged as promising candidates for quantum information processing tasks. In this talk, I will give a brief introduction into these systems, highlighting the aspects that set them apart from more conventional platforms such as superconducting qubits or trapped ions. I will review various theoretical proposals of quantum simulation and quantum information processing tasks. The aim is to provide sufficient context for the theoretical quantum information scientist to recognize which algorithms may or may not be suited for implementation with Rydberg atom arrays in the near term.
