Munich Quantum Valley Kickoff Event (via Livestream) 

Kick-off event for new research initiative sets the starting signal for the second quantum revolution in Bavaria, Thursday, 04 March 2021 from 10 am - 12 pm (CET) via livestream on Youtube.

To build a quantum computers that can solve complex scientific and economic problems faster than any supercomputer; to create infrastructures that facilitate technology transfer and the exchange of ideas in the field of quantum sciences; to offer excellent education and training opportunities for the specialists of tomorrow.

To achieve these and other goals in the next 5-10 years, five strong partners have joined forces in the Munich Quantum Valley: the Max Planck Society, the Fraunhofer Society, the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities and the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU) and the Technical University of Munich (TUM). A three point plan outlines the implementation and shows how research in academia is to be interlinked with development in industry in order to jointly launch the second quantum revolution in Bavaria.

About the Munich Quantum Valley

The Munich Quantum Valley is an alliance of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BadW), the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (FhG), the Max Planck Society (MPG), the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU) and the Technical University of Munich (TUM).

With Munich Quantum Valley, the partner organisations aim to advance the development of quantum science and technology on a national and international level over the next ten years. The Free State of Bavaria is providing a total of 300 million euros for this purpose, subject to the approval of the state parliament, 120 million euros of which will already be made available in 2021 and 2022. Strengthened in this way, Munich Quantum Valley will also apply for funding from the federal government, which is supporting the development of quantum technologies with two billion euros as part of the Future Package for Germany.
