Condensed matter physics for quantum information (Prof. Ch. Marcus)

  • Date: Nov 11, 2014
  • Time: 02:30 PM - 04:00 PM (Local Time Germany)
  • Speaker: Professor Dr. Charles Marcus, University of Copenhagen, Denmark
  • Room: Herbert Walther Lecture Hall
  • Host: MPQ
This talk will describe some of the physics challenges that arise in the pursuit of quantum information technology.

The focus will be on condensed matter approaches, specifically the use of spin and topological states to manipulate and store entangled quantum states. Beyond the specifics, the talk will illustrate how topics in fundamental physics, device engineering, and computer science have become intertwined.
