Doctoral Theses at MPQ
Each year 20 to 30 physicists are awarded doctorates in the five Divisions of the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics. On average it takes three to four years to complete a doctorate thesis. We have openings for highly motivated, qualified doctoral students.
The Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics offers students with very good diploma or master´s degree qualifications a unique and internationally oriented research environment in which to work on their doctorate thesis. Doctoral students have access to a wide-ranging academic offering thanks to the Institute´s close association with the two universities in Munich – all five MPQ Directors are either affiliated with the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) or the Technische Universität München (TUM) or have their own research groups there. The academic degrees are awarded either by the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München or the Technische Universität München, depending on which one the Director in question is allied to.
