Project Summary

In this project, Prof. Ignacio Cirac and Luis Escalera Moreno are collaborating with Prof. Immanuel Bloch's group (Quantum Many Body Systems) and other partners to build a physical demonstrator consisting in a 2D optical lattice where we expect to trap ^6Li atoms. These atoms are fermionic particles that can be both locally manipulated and entangled among them. The additional possibility of moving them around the lattice by making use of optical tweezers should allow exploiting this setup both as a quantum simulator and as a digital quantum computer with an unprecedented potential scalability.
