Abstract:
In this talk, I will give a summary of some of my recent work in https://arxiv.org/abs/2012.12848. The main idea is to find alternative ensembles which locally approximate thermal states. These alternative ensembles are based on the extremization of the Rényi entropy instead of the usual von Neumann entropy.
Under the hypothesis of a local Hamiltonian, I will try to convince you that they become locally indistinguishable from a thermal state in the thermodynamic limit. I will then briefly discuss algorithms to construct such states with tensor networks.
