"Artificial atoms coupling to light and sound" (MCQST) (Prof. Per Delsing)
Superconducting circuits can be used as artificial atoms and we will discuss how they can be used to study new physics. Specifically, I will show how artificial atoms can be used to study vacuum fluctuations by placing the atom in front of a mirror.

I will also show how these atoms can be connected to sound so that they decay by emitting individual phonons instead of individual photons. Sound-coupled atoms can also function as giant atoms, leading to new physics like non-exponential relaxation.
