The award honours “his outstanding scientific work that has had such a huge impact on the entire field of modern atomic and molecular physics, especially laser cooling of atoms, and laser-based precision spectroscopy." more

Kerry Vahala, Professor of Applied Physics at the renowned Caltech Institute in Pasadena, California, today receives the latest edition of the „MPQ Distinguished Scholar“ certificate. He receives the award in recognition of his "pioneering scientific work in the field of nonlinear optics and photonics with microresonators".  more

Immanuel Bloch, Director at the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics, is one of 20 scientists to be named this year's Clarivate Citation Laureate. The award honours researchers whose work has been cited an exceedingly large number of times and is considered pioneering for a new area of research. more
