The new Quantum Fridays at our MPQ PhotonLab

Once a month, quantum enthusiasts of all ages (*from the age of 14) can learn about the exciting phenomena of quantum physics in the PhotonLab - from October 2024 onwards.

Attention quantum friends! As part of the new communication and education project Quanten(t)räume (German wordplay between Quantum Dreams and Quantum Rooms) of the Deutsches Museum and other institutions in Munich, the MPQ school laboratory PhotonLab is nowfor the first time offering visits to anyone aged 14 and is interested in quantum physics. More than 20 different experimental stations are waiting there to help visitors grasp the basics of quantum physics and photonics and educate how these exciting phenomena are forming the basis for our communication technology of today and the quantum technologies of the future.

The PhotonLab school laboratory will be open to everyone one Friday afternoon a month from October. (Registration required)
The demonstration experiment with the single photon source in the new QuantumLab.

In addition, advanced quantum learners can witness the generation of real single photons in a demonstration experiment in the new QuantumLab.

Current dates are:

  • 18 October 2024 (2pm until 4pm)
  • 22 November 2024 (2pm until 4pm)
