Nobel Symposium at MPQ
October 08, 2021
Ferenc Krausz, proud laureate of last year's Nobel Prize in Physics, brought his precious Nobel medal and certificate to the MPQ on the occasion of the symposium.
Why attoseconds? Ferenc Krausz explains the broader trechnological, medical, scientific value of those unimaginably short pulses of light ultimately highly beneficial to society as a whole.
Also long-time companions and two great pioneers of quantum computing: Ignacio Cirac and Peter Zoller, Professor at the University of Innsbruck and also External Scientific Member of the MPQ.
Nobel Prize winner and Nobel Prize winner. Theodor Hänsch, a long-time MPQ colleague, received the prestigious award in 2005. To the left are Peter Zoller, Ignacio Cirac, Rainer Blatt, Immanuel Bloch and Hanieh Fattahi.
Not an everyday sight - Ferenc Krausz's Nobel Prize certificate and medal. At the Nobel Symposium, guests were able to take a close look at these two treasures.
Kein alltäglicher Anblick - die Nobelpreisurkunde und Medaille von Ferenc Krausz. Am Nobel Symposium durften die Gäste diese zwei Schätze mal aus nächster Nähe betrachten.
In addition to presentations, laudatios and acknowledgements, there shall of course also be enough time for refreshments, discussions and inspiring get-togethers.
Ferenc Krausz alongside Rainer Blatt, Professor at the University of Innsbruck, External Scientific Member of MPQ and former Director of the Munich Quantum Valley.
