M.Sc. Lukas Hartung talks about: “Scaling up quantum network nodes: atomic arrays in optical resonators”
Quantum systems with many qubits are realized on a variety of platforms. However, integrating these systems into quantum networks requires optical resonators which act as a network interface. Here, we demonstrate a scalable qubit register of Rb87 atoms and generate atom-photon entanglement with a detection efficiency approaching 90%. We achieve this by combining optical tweezers, optical lattices, optical multiplexing and an optical resonator.
Dr. Liudmila Voronina talks about: "Infrared fingerprinting of complex molecular mixtures: advances and challenges."
Infrared spectroscopy matured as a tool for small molecule characterization. Nowadays, however, it is applied to such complex biomolecular mixtures as human blood plasma, providing new opportunities for clinical applications, but also posing a unique set of challenges. Here we discuss how to combine molecular-level understanding of the sample nature with vibrational spectroscopy in order to extract relevant information from spectroscopic fingerprints.
