"Laser-plasma acceleration of electrons and protons."

Laser pulses with very short duration and ultra-high peak power can today be efficiently produced with compact lasers. When such pulses are focused, extreme optical intensities are obtained. In their interaction with matter a wide range of exciting phenomena appears and novel fields of investigations and applications become possible. The lecture will concentrate on compact electron and ion acceleration, and some of their potential applications. Examples of results obtained within these areas at the Lund Laser Centre will be presented.
