Organic semiconductors with conjugated electron system are currently intensively investigated for (opto-) electronics.
After introducing the materials class, I will discuss some of the recent
progress on highly efficient devices, such as white OLED, solar cells,
and novel transistor structures. In the second part of the talk, I will
address the use of organic materials in microcavity lasers. Due to their
excellent optoelectronic properties, organic active materials are ideal
materials to study novel effects in such cavity structures.
