We are taught that the field theory on continuum and lattice Hamiltonians are just two different ways to describe the same many-body physics. We will discuss phenomena where the connection between continuous and discrete spacetime is unavailable if not impossible.
Examples include fracton Hamiltonians and quantum cellular automata. They lead us to new questions on many-body entanglement, observable algebras, and tensor product structures.
