M.Sc. Leonardo Ruscio talks about: "Loss-Tolerant Photonic Qubit"
To mitigate the effect of qubit loss, it has been proposed to use entanglement and store the information in a correlated set of physical qubits. Here, we employ a graph state to demonstrate the encoding of qubits with loss-tolerant correlations. We achieve this for photons entangled with two atoms in an optical cavity where the total optical loss is below 50%. Our experiment shows that loss, the main downside for photonic qubits, can be overcome.
Dr. Marco Rigobello talks about: "Scattering in lattice gauge theory via tensor networks"
Ab-initio simulation of hadron collisions is essential for testing the Standard Model, yet difficult due to their nonperturbative nature and the limitations of Monte Carlo methods out of equilibrium. Tensor networks can accurately simulate scattering in low-dimensional gauge theories and support the design of quantum computation protocols. This talk focuses on identifying initial states that accurately describe the incoming asymptotic particles.
