Prof. Cheng Chin from the Department of Physics, James Franck Institute, and Enrico Fermi Institute at the University of Chicago, USA, is visiting the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics from September 22 to October 20, 2025. He is a guest of the Quantum Many Body Systems Division.
Prof. Chin shares about his visit:
“I am spending my sabbatical in the LMU Munich and the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics again! Last time was in 2013. Since then AMO physics has evolved so much that I really cherish the opportunities to share our passion and learn all the exciting discoveries in research. Atoms and molecules never stop surprise us.
My own research focuses on exploring novel quantum phenomena. A few recent examples are Bose fireworks, pattern formation, many-body chemistry, mediated interactions and inflation. We are also building a quantum matter synthesizer. You can find our recent works here.
Feel free to email me at cchin@uchicago.edu or knock on my office door. I'd love to chat and learn anything fun coming up in Munich”.
