Positions

Undergraduate students: Master thesis (Diploma thesis):

We welcome any good student who likes to join a highly motivated team, working on one of the aforementioned research areas. Basic knowledge in (quantum/nonlinear) optics and microfabrication is a plus, but motivation to work in a team is more important. While diploma thesis are not usually paid, there is the possibility of combining them with a HiWi position for candidates coming from regions other than Lausanne.

Graduate students: PhD positions (Doktoranden):

Most projects in the group will be run by PhD students. Possible PhD candidates who wish obtain diverse skillsets combining microfabrication, quantum and nonlinear optics and numerical simulations are encouraged to apply for these positions. A background in experimental physics is certainly helpful, but not neccesarily required. A "Diplom" in physics or any equivalent degree (e.g. a Master degree) is a mandatory prerequisite. Candidates from all countries and continents will be considered. (see advertisement)

Postdoctoral positions:

The laboratory for Photonics, embedded in the Laser Spectroscopy Division of Prof. Hänsch is seeking for a post-doctoral scientist. Highly motivated candidates are encouraged to apply to join our group with an international flavour. Research fields covered range from non-linear optics on a chip to laser cooling, as well as optical biosensing; all projects are investigated both richly experimental as well as theoretical. A strong background in quantum optics and physics is required, good experimental skills are a plus. Furthermore, applicants with a background in AMO Physics or Cryogenics are particularly welcome to apply! Contact Pr. Dr. Kippenberg for applications. (see advertisement)
